Well, yesterday didn’t go as planned. I didn’t make it to the gym because work ran long. Not just kind of long, but over an hour long. Which is fine because it’s a project I’ve been working on, and I actually anticipated this earlier in the day. I made sure I wasn’t going over on calories and then trying to chase those calories on the elliptical later.
The big thing I need to work on is being adaptable. That’s become one of my biggest flaws when I get into a routine. Once I’m comfortable with that routine, getting me out of it is really, really tough. I haven’t been doing my ice bath or sauna, and I haven’t even been getting Lucy out on true walks. So today, I’m changing things up.
Yesterday’s Activity
No gym workout yesterday. Work ran more than an hour past my normal quitting time, so I adjusted my food intake rather than trying to compensate with extra exercise.

Today’s Plan
Today I’m actually going to use my lunch break to get to the gym, then come home and do the ice bath and sauna. This works for a couple of reasons. First, I’m not waiting until later in the afternoon when I could potentially run out of time before having to pick up the kiddo from school. It’s not even my day to do that, but that’s not the point. It’s about moving my schedule around to make sure I’m doing the things I need to be doing.
It also means I have to be quicker at the gym. I can’t spend forever on the elliptical before getting to the weights because I’m only on my lunch break. I have to get back to work. I’m aiming for legs on the machines today, but again, flexibility is the key.
That’s really what I’m trying to figure out. How to keep doing the things I need to do without everything falling apart when the schedule changes.
