Well, the weekend was interesting. Saturday I made it to the gym and got in 30 minutes on the elliptical, followed by some leg machines. I didn’t get everything done because a couple of people decided to camp out on the machines I needed, but it was still a decent workout. The bigger issue was that I was still dealing with some serious brain fog.
Later Saturday, I drank a couple of bottles of water with electrolytes and started feeling significantly better. I’m beginning to think dehydration may have been a big part of what was going on. Sunday I skipped the gym, but I was feeling better because I was drinking more water. That’s going to be a major focus this coming week: making sure I always have water with me and I’m actually drinking it.
Saturday’s Workout
- ✅ Elliptical: 30 minutes
- ✅ Adductor: 100 lb, 3×10
- ✅ Abductor: 90 lb
- ✅ Seated Leg Curl: Completed
- ⬜ Leg Press: Machine occupied
- ⬜ Leg Extension: Machine occupied
Today’s Check-In
- Weight: 197.4 lb
- Goal Weight: 175 lb
- To Goal: 22.4 lb
- Body Fat: 21.6%
- Muscle Mass: 146.8 lb
- Visceral Fat: 9
- Body Water: 56.6%
- BMR: 1,885 calories
That’s a 4.4-pound increase from Saturday. I’m not going to pretend that’s the progress I wanted to see, but it’s also worth remembering that I’ve been drinking considerably more water. One weigh-in doesn’t tell the whole story.
Today’s Plan
Today I need to get back to the gym and keep moving. I also want to start getting into the habit of doing the ice bath and sauna early in the morning. I can’t take an hour out of a workday for that, so the plan is to keep it short: a couple of minutes in the ice bath followed by 10 minutes in the sauna.
The bigger goal this week is consistency. Keep drinking water, pay attention to what I’m eating, get moving throughout the day and keep working on the habits I’ve been trying to build. I’m not starting over because the weekend wasn’t perfect. I’m just continuing what I started.
