The Reset, Day 5: The Friday Test

A dark nervous system illustration with the words Day Five.

It’s Friday, and this is a big test because this is usually when my “cheat day” turns into a “cheat weekend.” I’ve been doing well this week, but Friday is often when things start to slip.

Yesterday wasn’t supposed to be a workout day, but I did go to my wife’s office and spend 30 minutes on the bike. That’s one of the advantages of being married to someone who owns a physical therapy clinic. She’s got all kinds of equipment.

Yesterday’s Activity

  • ✅ Stationary bike: 30 minutes

Now, last night I didn’t do the best with food. I really wasn’t motivated to cook, so we got KFC. Clearly, that wasn’t on the meal plan, but remember, this isn’t about perfection. It’s about accountability and progress.

That makes today even more crucial. It’s not to say I can’t have a nice meal that I enjoy tonight. It does mean I can’t overdo it like I frequently do. One meal doesn’t have to turn into an entire weekend of eating whatever I want.

Today’s Check-In

  • Weight: 192.6 lb
  • Goal Weight: 175 lb
  • To Goal: 17.6 lb
  • Body Fat: 20.7%
  • Muscle Mass: 145.2 lb
  • Visceral Fat: 8
  • Body Water: 57.3%
  • BMR: 1,867 calories

Today’s Plan

Quite honestly, I haven’t even decided if I’m going to the gym today. I kind of want today to be more free-flowing to see how I do. No scheduled workout, no exercise checklist to complete. I’ll keep focusing on eating right, moving throughout the day and the other habits I’ve been working on this week.

We’ll see how it goes and report back tomorrow. That’s the whole point of this experiment.

The Reset, Day 4: Learning to Rest

Yesterday felt good. Mixing up the workout really helped get my butt to the gym. Although I only did three sets of sprints instead…
